The Aysanew Kassa Trust
Improving Education in the Azezo Schools
Registered Charity Number: 1090931

Our Projects

Ethiopia's population is expanding rapidly and in Azezo over 45% is under 15 years of age: local schools are struggling to cope with the numbers and operate a morning or afternoon shift system. Even then, class sizes are enormous and students must sit two or even three to a desk. Facilities within schools - libraries, computer rooms, internet access and even basic amenities like toilets - are either lacking or woefully inadequate.

Primary School Class

We work extensively with two local schools in the area, Atse Fasil Elementary School and Azezo High School, funding projects and facilities that will improve the education they can offer.

We also work with the local council to benefit all Azezo's people and in 2011 we inaugurated the towns first public library.

Azezo's problems are shared by many other towns and cities across Ethiopia, and we have close links to Bruh Tesfa Youth Development Centre in Adigrat, Tigray, to the north of the country. You can read more about Bruh Tesfa here.

Finally, we are immensely proud to support the Daughters of Saint Anna in their work with blind children at St Raphel's School. Those born with a disability in Ethiopia are often at the greatest disadvantage and yet these children have conquered their blindness through their intelligence, wit and love for life.

Please support us in our work with these organisations to improve the opportunities available to all sectors of society. Even a little goes a long way in Ethiopia and your money can create a lasting change.
